About This Book
A ruler temporarily transfers authority to a strict deputy who enforces morality harshly; a young man is condemned for sexual activity and his sister, a novice, pleads for mercy. The deputy propositions her, offering clemency in exchange for sexual submission, exposing his hypocrisy. Concealed by the ruler, who returns in disguise to observe and manipulate events, supporters arrange a substitution to trap the deputy, then reveal his corruption. Legal judgments, mercy, and moral double standards are confronted as order is restored through confrontation, negotiated punishment, and unexpected reconciliations among the implicated parties.
