About This Book
A group of Yardley Hall schoolboys supports Gerald Evens as he trains and competes in seasonal school sports. The narrative follows cross-country, hockey, basketball, elections for team positions and school events, highlighting rivalries with Broadwood, team camaraderie, training, and leadership challenges. A missing trophy creates a mystery that tests loyalty and resourcefulness, and culminating contests determine team honors and an individual award symbolized by the Y. Through competitions, speeches, campaigns, and incidents at a bonfire and picnic, characters grow in confidence and responsibility, learning sportsmanship and earning recognition from peers.
