Versuch einer Kritik aller Offenbarung

This work presents a systematic philosophical examination of revelation, beginning with a theory of the will and a deduction of religion from practical reason. It distinguishes natural and revealed religion, analyzes the concept of revelation both formally and materially, and attempts an a priori deduction of that concept. It investigates the empirical and physical possibility of revelation, then proposes criteria to judge a communication's divine authority by form, content, and mode of presentation, offers a systematic ordering of those criteria, and outlines how to assess whether a given occurrence should be accepted as revelation.
