The Girl Crusoes: A Story of the South Seas

A pair of resourceful young girls travel with an older relative to the South Seas and, after a nocturnal wreck, are marooned on a remote tropical island where they must improvise shelter, food and safety. Their island life unfolds through practical problem-solving, encounters with local islanders, storms, predators and hidden dangers, and efforts to protect and rescue a foundling. Episodic set pieces—storms, a cave prison, a shark threat and daring rescues—foreground themes of courage, cooperation and self-reliance as they struggle to survive and seek reunion with the outside world.
