About This Book
A young sculptress is unexpectedly declared heir to a distant throne and forced into a palace where she faces bewilderment, court intrigue, and cultural estrangement. She resists imposed authority while trying to protect an isolated sister and to communicate with allies beyond the kingdom. The plot moves through ordeals in crypts and harems, scenes in temples and slave markets, daring plans and rescues, and several pitched encounters, all threaded with growing romantic tension. Repeated tests of patience and will compel her to match guile with courage as she seeks escape, justice, and control of her own destiny.
