On the Edge of the Arctic; Or, An Aeroplane in Snowland

Two young aviators from Calgary exhibit their new aeroplane and are drawn into an Arctic expedition led by an enterprising colonel and an enigmatic count. The narrative follows their overland and aerial journey north, showing preparations, river rapids that destroy equipment, setbacks in Edmonton, and a tempestuous voyage to Athabasca Landing. Wintering in the Far North, they confront blizzards, difficult navigation in snow and ice, encounters with local trappers and Indigenous people, hunting and camp life, and mechanical challenges to their airship. Resourcefulness, seamanship, and aviation skill enable them to overcome hazards, culminate in feats of aerial daring, and win local acclaim.
