The work assembles travel sketches and pictorial vignettes across Finland, alternating landscape description, town portraits and scenes of daily life. It contrasts coastal and inland environments, maritime traffic and shallow Baltic waters with lakes, rapids and forests, and records seasonal light, fishing and salting practices, market towns, castles and industrial sites. Folklore, local customs and craftwork appear alongside lyrical reflections on character and place. Each numbered chapter concentrates on a specific locality or scene, offering attentive observation, geographical notes and human textures that together form a varied mosaic of Finnish places and ways.
