About This Book
The play follows a monarch trying to quell a rising noble rebellion while his heir vacillates between riotous companionship and nascent responsibility. Political councils and private indulgences contrast with the hotheaded valor of a rival noble, producing tensions over honor, authority, and filial expectation. Comic tavern episodes coexist with strategic plotting and martial scenes, and shifting loyalties and reputations drive characters toward a climactic confrontation that tests leadership, courage, and the human costs of civil strife.
