About This Book
A teenage girl and her father arrive at a riverside island where a series of petty thefts of brass fittings and a missing trophy escalate into a full-fledged mystery. Working with local youths and the ferry captain’s daughter, she follows physical clues and overheard hints, confronts night prowlers, endures dangerous moments on the water, and helps rescue a trapped companion. The plot moves through investigation, suspenseful chases, a waterfront fire and dredging operation to recover stolen property, and concludes with a decisive boat race that exposes the culprits.
