Two Daring Young Patriots; or, Outwitting the Huns

The story follows two resourceful young friends who, when war reaches their region, refuse to flee and instead turn an industrial works from peacetime manufacture into armaments, cooperating with local managers to cast shells and repair weapons. They join local resistance efforts, undertake reconnaissance, raids on enemy positions and sabotage of supply lines, and face betrayals and counter-attacks while learning leadership and solidarity. Episodes move from schoolboy rivalries and river races to desperate actions behind the lines, culminating in a bold cross-border operation that tests their courage and ingenuity. Themes include youthful patriotism, technical improvisation, loyalty, and the moral cost of warfare.
