About This Book
A journalist in a crowded spaceport city witnesses the arrival of a ship from Terra and becomes involved when a visiting passenger is poisoned by a native tread-snail. Rescue and survival efforts draw together monster-hunters, station staff, and local citizens, while rumors, economic pressures, and private agendas provoke vigilantism, sabotage, and political betrayal that nearly spark civil conflict. The plot moves between action sequences, investigative reporting, and communal decision-making, exploring frontier dangers, improvised heroism, and the tensions between order, rumor, and leadership in an isolated, resource-strained outpost.
