About This Book
This survey compiles specimen-based and literature records to summarize the birds of Coahuila, México, relying principally on about 500 museum specimens supplemented by previous reports. It outlines the state's varied habitats from montane tree-line to low desert, presents at least 312 named forms (249 species) with roughly 154 probable breeders and an estimated additional hundred species pending study, and treats subspecies, breeding status, and distributional affinities linking eastern, western, and Mexican faunas. The work includes a gazetteer of collecting localities with coordinates, a list of collectors, and systematic species accounts with notes on topography and climate influences.
