Bearly Reasonable

Two frontier hands, Magpie Simpkins and Ike Harper, are hired by an eccentric professor, his wife, and a pompous doctor who want help observing rattlesnakes, prairie dogs, and a grizzly’s maternal behavior. They accept payment and a bonus to arrange field observations, and a string of comic mishaps follows as scientific aims collide with frontier realities: overburdened burros, mismatched expectations, logistical bungles, and unpredictable wildlife provoke dry humor. The narrative moves through episodic scenes of guidance, improvisation, and misunderstanding, balancing a playful critique of amateur science with rustic character interactions and situational comedy.
