About This Book
The story opens with twin brothers confronting each other at a desert water hole: one serves as the local sheriff, the other is an outlaw who has just robbed a bank. The outlaw overpowers his brother, steals his badge and guns, and forces him to remain stranded among the rocks while he assumes the sheriff's identity to move into town and exploit official authority. A brutal scrambling fight erupts, exposing jealousies, family rivalry, and questions of heredity, honor, and the thin line between law and lawlessness in a harsh frontier setting.
