About This Book
The narrative centers on the god Indra, who, enamored with a mortal princess of noble lineage, transforms into a beautiful Angora cat named White Lotus to be near her. The princess lavishes affection and extravagant care upon him, much to the dismay of the other gods. When the princess falls gravely ill, White Lotus learns that he must sacrifice his own well-being to save her. He weeps for her, and his tears are used in a healing ritual that ultimately restores her health. In the end, White Lotus dies from his sacrifice, but his eyes are preserved in a bracelet, allowing the princess to remember his love forever.
