About This Book
A Christian elder writes to his friend Gaius with affection and a wish that he prosper in body as his soul does. He commends Gaius's faithful hospitality to itinerant brothers who serve for Christ without taking support from outsiders and urges continued help as cooperation in the truth. He rebukes Diotrephes for refusing to listen to the elder, seeking preeminence, and opposing or excluding those who welcome the brethren, and he endorses Demetrius's good character. He promises further conversation in person and closes with a benediction of peace and communal greetings.
