Weighed and Wanting

The story follows intertwined lives of a coastal family's household and their acquaintances as private virtues, social pretensions and musical tastes entangle hearts and fortunes. A serious-minded woman struggles with self-righteousness and aspiration to genuine charity; a proud suitor's love of music and various friendships deepen into courtship, rivalry and moral testing.
