Villilampaita

An English husband and wife travel to Algiers seeking diversion; the wife craves novelty and persuades her reluctant husband to journey from Paris to the Algerian landscape. In Paris they consult a famed astrologer whose ominous warning unsettles them despite the husband's skepticism. Their route takes them into the desert and to isolated hotels, where accidents, local exiles and guides, and strange encounters test their relationship and the wife's appetite for excitement. The narrative contrasts rational reserve with superstition while tracking growing unease as the couple presses toward the Sahara's edge and unexpected dangers.
