Un antiguo rencor

The story begins with a rural wedding whose apparent joy conceals a deep family quarrel born of a long-standing hatred between an imperious aunt and a despised relative. To secure their marriage the young couple hides truths and pins hopes on a possible reconciliation, but outside influences and broken loyalties rekindle hostilities. The narrative unfolds through schemes, betrayals by expected allies, military-style attacks and defenses, abduction and blockade, and the resurfacing of suppressed passions. Confrontations and moral tests lead to reckonings in which compassion and courage gradually loosen the bonds of resentment and free the characters from the past.
