About This Book
The narrative follows a stranded community eking out survival on a bleak plain where access to a vast Ship is tightly controlled by a hierarchy of Officers and Engineers. A restless young man, Wes Kirk, resents the hoarding of warmth, food, and secrets and voices suspicion that something valuable is hidden aboard the Ship. His disclosure of that secret to outside enemies triggers a violent assault and precipitates personal tragedy, including the death of the woman he loves. The story examines scarcity, class divides, desperate choices, and the moral cost of betrayal amid constant danger from predators and the elements.
