The Zeppelin's Passenger

An airship incident and a recovered observation car set off local curiosity and official inquiry, after which a stranger arrives claiming two names and a past intimacy with the household's absent relative. He asks for shelter and clothes while quietly admitting service to an enemy and offering, in return, a promise to secure the relative's release. The household confronts a painful choice between duty and compassion as suspicion, politeness, and strategic bargaining produce escalating tension; the plot proceeds through investigations, social encounters, and calculated negotiations that probe loyalty, deception, and the cost of intervention.
