The Young Oarsmen of Lakeview

A group of rival young oarsmen and their friends stage races and engage in summer adventures on and around a lake, rescuing a fellow boy from drowning and saving small craft. Their exploits expand to include nighttime attacks, a hermit’s hidden past, thefts at a lakeside hotel, chases by thieves and tramps, and dramatic escapes. Several boat contests and a final race punctuate episodes of loyalty, bravery, and cleverness, while misunderstandings and a surprising disappearance create mystery. The narrative follows recurring friendships, shifting alliances, and the youths’ resourcefulness as they confront danger, unmask villains, and bring wrongdoers to justice.
