About This Book
A young man sits beside his dying longtime caregiver on his twenty-first birthday as she reveals that his grandfather, a scientist who disappeared after experimental work, intended to return when he came of age. Soon grim, black-clad abductors seize several Earth people and transport them to a bizarre other world where men can change size at will, forcing the newcomer to confront altered physical laws and the consequences of scientific ambition. The narrative follows the characters' efforts to survive and adapt while examining aspiration, sacrifice, and the unsettling cost of pursuing transcendent knowledge.
