About This Book
The story follows Gary, who becomes involved with Patricia and other locals around a ranching community where an uncanny voice is heard near Johnnywater. Strange occurrences linked to a distinctive pinto cat and a long-closed mine drive Gary to investigate, confronting danger, secret motives, and local superstitions. As he tracks clues he briefly disappears, testing loyalties and prompting searches by friends including Monty and Patricia. The narrative combines a developing romance, a suspenseful pursuit of an explanation for the mysterious voice, and a portrayal of perseverance and resourcefulness in a rugged setting.
