The Star Guardsman

An experienced Spacer, Mark Lynn, is tasked by a Council psychologist to organize a planetary evacuation after astronomers calculate a comet will shift Earth's axis and render it uninhabitable for generations. Political hierarchies and interplanetary bureaucracy complicate planning as Martian officials, ruling scientists, Internationals, and Civicans compete over authority and resources. Personal friction and reluctant mutual respect between the mission lead and the young psychologist color procedural meetings and strategic briefings. The narrative follows the logistical and diplomatic preparations for mass resettlement, the technological shortcomings confronting the rescuers, and confrontations with treacherous Overlords as desperate efforts focus on securing a distant refuge for humanity.
