The Saracen: The Holy War

The narrative follows a blond, gray-eyed man born to a crusading family who is captured as a child, raised among elite slave warriors, and converts to the faith of his captors. With a foreign mounted invasion threatening the region and envoys courting a Christian-allied coalition, he is sent covertly to the papal court to prevent a catastrophic alliance. He employs bribery, seduction, assassination, and the methods of a secretive sect, recruiting mercenaries and manipulating loyalties to influence events. The story probes divided identity, the moral costs of clandestine warfare, and the frictions of political and religious loyalties on the eve of invasion.
