About This Book
The narrative follows the Rover brothers—Dick, Tom, and their younger brother Sam—through late college days and early domestic and business responsibilities. Scenes portray campus life with winter sports, a climactic baseball game in which Sam excels, and Sam's graduation. Afterwards the brothers and companions embark on an extended automobile tour that produces a sequence of travels and crises: mountain storms, a sudden flood, and dangerous river rescues. Along the way friendships are tested, an antagonist's misdeeds complicate affairs, and family ties and practical resourcefulness bring about several reconciliations and rescue attempts before a domestic resolution concludes the story.
