About This Book
The narrative follows a knight who is orphaned at birth, raised in another court, and wins renown through combats and services to a ruler. Charged with escorting a foreign princess to be that ruler’s bride, he and she are bound by an unintended philter into a consuming, forbidden passion which they hide with the aid of a loyal attendant. Their secret produces jealousy, slander, exile, and further quests, including spells of madness and a marriage to another woman. The story closes with a final reunion and mutual death, exploring the clash between feudal duty, personal honor, and overpowering desire in a medieval chivalric world.
