About This Book
An English hunting gentleman arrives in County Mayo for business, finds poor lodgings, and joins a small local fox-hunt where he attracts the notice of a charismatic landowner, who promptly insists he come to the family seat. After a long run the narrator is taken to Castle Conor and introduced to a warm, boisterous household of sons and daughters. Hospitality, sport, social ritual, and developing acquaintance with the family set the scene for ensuing episodes of rural life and gentle comedy.
