The non-stop stowaway

The story follows a boy nicknamed Kiwi who becomes involved with the testing and preparation of a long-distance airplane alongside his father and another young flyer. It moves from shore-based workshops and hangar work through the machine’s trials, a daring non-stop transoceanic flight, and tense mid-Atlantic difficulties that test skill and courage. After the flight the narrative examines changed circumstances, the experience of adapting to unfamiliar conditions, and the boy’s progression from observer to trained aviator.
