About This Book
The story follows Hermas, a young convert in ancient Antioch who, having renounced family wealth for a life of Christian devotion, is tormented by spiritual doubt after his child's grave illness and the sense that a once-known sacred word of help has been forgotten. As grief and remorse overwhelm him and his wife seeks aid, an unexpected visitor reopens the quest for the lost word. The narrative traces Hermas's inner struggle between pride and humility, the search for healing through prayer and memory, and moves from fear and spiritual poverty toward renewed faith and recovered joy.
