The volume traces the later life, correspondence, and artistic output of Frederic Leighton, documenting his London studios and early professional work, contributions to illustrated periodicals and a notable church fresco, and extensive travels in the eastern Mediterranean and Egypt that informed his art. It follows his election to and leadership within the Royal Academy, his domestic and studio surroundings including the Arab Hall, and his creative evolution through major paintings, sculptures, studies, and commissions.
