The Library of Work and Play: Gardening and Farming.

The first section presents a series of clublike episodes in which an adult mentor guides groups of boys and girls through hands-on gardening projects, experiments, garden planning and construction, problem-solving such as drainage and pest issues, seasonal activities, and contests. The second section offers systematic, practical talks on soil and plant nutrition, seeds and propagation, cultivation and maintenance, common weeds and pests, vegetable and flower culture, wildflower and landscape gardening, and ways children can earn from small gardens, accompanied by diagrams, planting tables, workshop exercises, and step-by-step how-to guidance.
