The House of a Thousand Candles

A young heir returns from abroad to satisfy conditions of an inheritance that require him to live in his late grandfather’s remote estate and attend to its architecture. He encounters an inscrutable household staff, odd nocturnal visitors on the lake, and quiet neighbors connected to a nearby convent school, while unexplained shots, secret passages, and furtive meetings hint at a concealed danger. Investigations, eavesdropping, and alliances with local acquaintances draw him into escalating confrontations, a siege of the house, and physical struggles, and gradually yield personal and puzzling revelations about the property’s history and the motives of those who guard its secrets.
