About This Book
An amiable but impecunious young man in London finds his easy gaiety drawn into a succession of romantic entanglements, misunderstandings and social maneuvers. His flirtations with a household maid and her mistress, together with interventions by friends and rivals, set off schemes involving letters, telegrams and theatrical episodes. The plot develops through comic obstacles, shifting loyalties and small rises and falls in fortune, moving from light-hearted banter and fashionably awkward situations to a sequence of revelations and the customary tidy resolutions of a society romance.
