The Frontier Boys in the Sierras; Or, The Lost Mine

A band of brothers and their companions sail from island waters to the California coast and mount an expedition into the Sierra Nevada in search of a rumored lost mine. Their voyage tests them with storms and shipboard rescues, and their mountain campaign confronts rival claimants, secret diagrams, conspiracies and ambushes. The narrative alternates between action at sea and rugged inland adventure, presenting camps, chases, night attacks, skirmishes and a local trial, and follows the party as they pursue clues, erect a new post, and endure setbacks while striving to locate the hidden mine.
