About This Book
The story follows John Thurmon, an ambitious astronaut who secures a historic lunar landing only after murdering his colleague to prevent competition. Stranded by a crash, he buries the companion, broadcasts a triumphant transmission claiming he is the first on the Moon, and endures elation mixed with fear as isolation sets in. While exploring the desolate plain he encounters an impossible, monumental likeness of his victim, transforming his pride into dread and delivering an ironic, unsettling reversal that interrogates obsession with fame, guilt, and the costs of achievement.
