About This Book
A solitary neighbor keeps vigil over a reclusive man's corpse and, as night deepens, minor disturbances and a lamp's flicker let loose a flood of dread. The sitter's imagination magnifies a shifted sheet and the corpse's blank stare into visions of malevolent life; sleep brings nightmares of the dead rising. Superstition, oppressive silence, and mounting paranoia steadily erode his reason, turning an ordinary wake into an escalating psychological ordeal that blurs dream and waking and leaves fear shaping every perception.
