The Crevice

A powerful financier is found dead at home, and his daughter, threatened by sudden bankruptcy and violent attempts on her and her allies, calls the veteran detective Henry Blaine to investigate. The inquiry unravels a layered conspiracy among business associates involving forged instruments, secret visits, coded correspondence and staged accidents. The detective follows clues through surveillance, cipher solving, and a series of tactical counter-moves that lead to an empty house, a trap, and a daring rescue.
