The author examines the controversy between Christian churches and modern schools over evolutionary theory, arguing that evolution is unproven and that its philosophical application undermines doctrines such as inspiration, the fall, the nature of sin, Christ’s person, atonement, new birth, and the holiness of God. He distinguishes natural (scientific) and spiritual (supernatural) realms, locates the dispute in speculative misuse of evolutionary ideas, and contends that conflict arises when one realm usurps the methods or truths of the other. As a cure he advocates classifying kinds of truth, separating investigative faculties, giving faith and the spiritual primacy, and interpreting natural discoveries in the light of revealed spiritual truth.
