The Cave of Gold / A Tale of California in '49

Set during the California gold discovery era, the narrative follows a band of young companions who pursue a miners' map and encounter repeated dangers: hostile parties, flooding, false murder accusations and testimony, theft and betrayal, and mysterious clues that lead them through canyons and along lake shores. Episodes alternate action, near-rescue and detective-like deduction, culminating in the revelation of a hidden cave of gold, a sudden catastrophe, and a return home that closes the tale.
