About This Book
Two veteran detectives and their young associate investigate mysterious activity in Chinatown, tracing a kidnapped boy and secret papers to an underwater treasure scheme. A deaf old Chinese informant points to a cottage on Lorimer's Lane and alleges villains intend to use the boy's diving skill to recover submerged money. The investigators follow clues along Pell Street, stake out ruins and saloons, suffer misdirection and delays, and slowly unravel a network of secret dens and conspirators. Episodes alternate surveillance, interrogation, and narrow escapes as they piece together motive, location, and the plot to recover the hidden treasure.
