Along the way they endure ambushes, capture by hostile groups, a medicine man's riddles, subterranean tunnels and a hidden ancient city protecting Inca gold and odd perils such as cannibal fish. Courage, resourcefulness and scoutcraft are tested as betrayals surface and the truth about the missing man is uncovered.
