The boy nihilist

The narrative follows a young American heir who, while embarking on foreign travel, is enlisted by a mysterious exile to carry a sealed packet to a prominent figure in St. Petersburg. His patriotic idealism and inexperience draw him into a web of secret societies, revolutionary intrigue, and surveillance by foreign agents. Encounters with imprisoned and exiled radicals reveal the human costs of political struggle, and shipboard and city scenes frame a journey from naïve enthusiasm toward deeper involvement in conspiracies that test loyalties and courage.
