The Boy Allies at Verdun; Or, Saving France from the Enemy

Two youths and a newspaper correspondent undertake a dangerous courier mission to reach General Pétain at Verdun on the eve of a major offensive, racing along front-line roads while facing mechanical hazards and enemy danger. Their present task grows from earlier Balkan adventures in which they escaped capture, rescued a girl, and lost a relative, and from overheard intelligence that reveals plans for a large-scale attack. The narrative follows their urgent journey, close calls, and acts of resourcefulness as they strive to deliver crucial dispatches that might alter the course of the coming battle.
