The Belgians to the Front

A troop of Boy Scouts and two young friends in an ancient Belgian city become enmeshed in the outbreak of war after discovering marked plans and hostile agents. Their investigations lead to covert reconnaissance, captures and imprisonments, daring escapes, and dangerous pursuits as they try to warn authorities and aid local defenders. The narrative alternates small-scale adventures — sneaking into houses, spying, close shaves — with scenes at military headquarters, civic mobilization, and street fighting. Through youthful courage and communal resilience the story traces the confusion, bravery, and eventual triumph that accompany a community’s response to invasion.
