About This Book
A young raccoon, injured in winter, is cared for by a kindly boy but kept tethered while he heals. As spring arrives he grows restless and longs for the Green Forest, making several escape attempts and blundering into frightening and comic situations. Along the way he meets other woodland creatures who alternately threaten or aid him, experiences rescue and recovery, and learns through trials about the tension between human protection and wild independence. The episodes combine light adventure, natural-detail observation, and gentle lessons about home, healing, and belonging within a forest community.
