Suomalaisen kirjallisuuden vaiheet

A chronological study of Finnish-language literature from the Reformation period into the late nineteenth century, organized into distinct eras that assess the language's standing, early religious and translated texts, the rise of scholarly inquiry and national literary movements, and debates over dialect and standard language. The work surveys genres including hymns, secular and peasant poetry, folk-song collection, drama, prose and periodical writing, and supplies biographical sketches of major contributors. Editorial notes and supplemental material are included to fill gaps in the author's unfinished manuscript and to document sources and textual choices.
