About This Book
The narrative follows a young technician assigned to transport and install delicate pilot gyros for an ambitious orbital platform, and becomes drawn into a campaign of sabotage that threatens the project's launch. As he confronts attempts to wreck the work he has helped build, he forms alliances with other crew members — including a determined foreman and an inventive small-statured colleague — contends with violence and loss, and navigates a developing romantic attachment, all while the team struggles to complete the complex technical and logistical tasks necessary to lift the platform into space.
