About This Book
A mythic drama follows a prodigiously strong man whose power hinges on a secret and his turbulent relationship with a woman who is at once lover and instrument of rival forces. Intimate scenes alternate with public rites as she struggles between desire, ambition, and the urgings of priests and rulers to betray him. Her betrayal leads to his capture, degradation, and loss, and culminates in a destructive, sacrificial act that topples opposing power. The play foregrounds themes of religious ritual, erotic manipulation, loyalty, and the heavy costs of personal and political treachery.
